This impressive sculpture represents two birds in a nest. The curve at the base is the nest; the two points are the heads of the birds looking around. They are resting inside, whilst also watching out for possible danger from all directions.
Such a gorgeous piece of stone, with fascinating subtle colouration and internal structure. Nesbert’s clean lines and smooth surfaces allow us to appreciate the beauty of the material.
This striking sculpture has a strong silhouette. It would be a perfect focal point in a garden, picked out with a spotlight at night. Equally, it’s not so big that it wouldn’t also be perfect for a large interior space against a pale backdrop.
This stone is a type of ‘leopard rock’ serpentine; it’s most commonly a pale yellow-green with black spots, hence the name. It is very hard and impermeable, which makes it suitable for outdoor display. The lines you can see are part of the internal structure of the stone – they are not cracks or lines of weakness.
