“A happy moment when everyone comes together to celebrate some good news.”

The top circle is the head of the household, the other circles are the other family members hugging each other. When something good happens in a family (a marriage or a birth), everyone gets together to celebrate.

Before her death, Shona sculpture’s best-known art critic Celia Winter-Irving picked out Munyaradzi Jeche as being the most promising artist she had seen for a long time.

This hard variety of serpentine stone is impermeable and frost-resistant. All colouration and texture within the stone is entirely natural.

As with all of Munyaradzi’s work, this sculpture has been made from a single piece of stone.
