Nesbert incorporates his trademark face with its delicate features into a sculpture with unusual form and colourĀ – a very eye-catching small sculpture from Nesbert, and excellent value.

The base is made of springstone (serpentine). It is 12cm in diameter and 3.5cm in height. The total height given above is the height for the sculpture and base combined. The sculpture is pinned and glued to the base.

‘Cobalt stone’ is the local Zimbabwean name given to this type of serpentine, which is typically a mixture of purple and green. This variety comes from the area around the town of Guruve in northern Zimbabwe. It does not, as far as we know, contain any cobalt mineral but may originally have been discovered near a cobalt mine.
