“This family has been apart and now they are all back together.”

Each interlocking segment represents a branch of an extended family, and the centre – where they all intersect – represents a family reunion. They may live in different places but when they get back together, there’s a huge feeling of joy amongst the reunited family members.

With the purity of its white crystals radiating outwards like a starburst, and the simplicity of its form, it’s really got the WOW factor!

This impressive agate sculpture is one of two large artworks from Tafadzwa Tandi in this year’s collection (the other is ‘Kind Heart’).

This stunning agate stone comes from Mozambique. As raw material, it’s expensive to buy, and there are significant transport costs as well. Additionally, because it’s extremely hard, it requires special tools, so it’s difficult and expensive to sculpt. Unsurprisingly, therefore, not many Zimbabwean artists use agate! However, it’s such lovely stone and the end result is so extraordinary, it’s worth all the expense and effort.

Imperial measurements are:
16 1/2″ x 17 3/10″ x 14 1/5″ and weight 126 3/4lbs
